"In reviewing our past history, having traveled over every step of advance to our present standing, I can say, Praise God! As I see what the Lord has wrought, I am filled with astonishment, and with confidence in Christ as leader. We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history." (Counsels for the Church, p. 359.4).
We have heard this famous quotation given to Christ's church, through His servant, Ellen G. White. But what does it mean? How has Christ led His church in the past? What church did He lead? Is Christ leading sectors of the church? Is He directing segments in the church? Who is the "we" she is referring to? Who was Ellen White? Who were the "pioneers" who came together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to launch the final church movement of prophetic history?
Each of these questions will be put to the test, May 22nd, as Advent Hope - Columbus journey's by motorcoach to Battle Creek, Michigan for a one-day tour of Adventist Heritage Village. We will tour the home of James and Ellen White; the cemetery where they and their children are buried. We will worship in a church structure, modeled after the 19th century buildings where they would have worshipped. We will hear a lecture by Attorney Isaiah Delemar in how Spirit of Prophecy insights are being fulfilled. We will learn how both the prophetic disclosures of Revelation and the Great Controversy are fast falling in place, from Dr. Chris Gibbons.
Join us on this one day adventure in our beginnings, as we discover our prophetic roots as Seventh-day Adventists. Your confidence in Scripture will grow, and respect for the Spirit of Prophecy will deepen. Plan now, to travel with us to a pivotal place in our history; Seventh-day Adventist history.
